DGTG Wine Wednesday: Sparkling Flight at Disney's Flying Fish Cafe

This week's Wine Wednesday post highlights the Sparkling Wine flight at Walt Disney World's Flying Fish Cafe, a Signature Restaurant located at the Boardwalk Resort.  This is the second time Flying Fish has been featured on Wine Wednesday, and has, as I have previously mentioned, one of the most extensive wine lists found on Disney property.

Last month, I had the pleasure of dining at Flying Fish and was delighted to learn that they offer a fabulous Sparkling Wine flight among many others.  A flight at Flying Fish consists of three 2 oz. pours, but as you can see from the picture, the pours were very generous.

All 3 wines are delivered at once in dainty crystal tasting flutes which are appropriately smaller than the average Champagne glass.  The flight is accompanied by a card containing the tasting notes which serves as a helpful reference.  I immediately noticed that the flight included two French Champagnes and one South African Sparkling!  I was extremely excited to taste the South African varietal since wines from this locale are gaining in trending popularity, and also because I was completely unfamiliar with South African sparkling.

The 3 wines featured in the Sparkling Wine Flight are:
  • Lucien Albrecht Brut, Creman 'd Alcase NV
  • Nicolas Feuillatte Brut, Epernay NV
  • Graham Beck Bliss Demi-Sec, South Africa NV

My favorite of the flight was the Nicolas Feuillatte, although the other two offerings were tasty as well.  This flight is priced a little on the high side at $19.00, but the opportunity was well worth it: to try three wines I may have otherwise overlooked.

Not a Champagne lover? Flying Fish boasts a VAST selection of unique wine flights sure to please the most sophisticated palate.  View the list in its entiretly here.  Flying Fish Cafe also hosts a Chef's Wine Tasting Dinner on select nights.

Reservations are highly recommended and can be made up to 180 days in advance online or by calling (407)WDW-DINE.
