DGTG Coverage of Disney Junior's Sofia the First Premiere Event

Disney Go To Girl was recently offered an invitation to attend Disney Junior's private screening event at Walt Disney Studios for our newest princess, Sofia!  Agent P, our Socal correspondent was there to capture every moment for my readers! Enjoy!

Ready for a new Disney princess?

Sofia the First is a pint-sized princess who will change your idea of how Disney presents their heroines. Sofia is a more realistic role model that all young girls can relate to.

She is shown experiencing the same social issues as your young lady or gent does -- learning how to fit in, making new friends, learning new skills and working on sibling relationships from diverse backgrounds.

A bumbling wizard, jealous step-sibling, animals that understand  her and a Royal Steward who "makes it work", seem to help provide a breakthrough character who's kindness, generosity, honesty, grace and love shine through.

Finally a Princess who does not deal with love and heartache of a prince! With the help of the three familiar fairies in charge of the Royal Training Academy — Flora, Fauna and Merryweather of Disney’s classic “Sleeping Beauty”, on occasion, classic Disney Princess characters including Cinderella, Aurora, Snow White and Ariel — Sofia learns that looking like a princess isn’t all that hard but behaving like one must come from the heart.

Sofia the First is aimed at children aged  2 - 7 years of age. I had the opportunity to take my 3 year old the premiere on the Disney Studio lot and was sooo nervous about her attention span. Sofia the First does not wait to get into the meat of the story, my daughter was intrigued right from the start. Not only did she pretty much sit through the movie, she grabbed a wonderful young lady's hand each time music played and swayed to the beat. I was completely shocked that my little girl approached a total stranger and let her innocence and happiness shine through (teary eyed here)

Modern Family's Ariel Winter is joined by Sara Ramirez of Grey's Anatomy as her mom Queen Miranda, Wayne Brady is wise-talking Clover the Rabbit, Jennifer Hale as Cinderella and Tim Gunn as Baileywick the Royal Steward. It premieres at 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, on Disney Channel and at 9 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 22, on sister channel Disney Junior and her own series spring 2013 on Disney and Disney Junior channels worldwide.

On a side note - I have had many run ins with Wayne Brady here in Burbank and on Southwest Airlines - but nothing is as memorable as him freaking me out when I thought he adopted the Maltese pup I was looking at getting. He adopted my little dog's sister 12 years ago. Still connected Wayne - still connected!
