Hoop-De-Doo Musical Revue: A Foot-Stompin', Down-Home Good Time

My family and I had the distinct pleasure of attending our first Hoop-De-Doo-Musical Revue in January as part of my birthday celebration at Disney!  DisneyWorld.com describes Hoop-De-Doo Revue as "an old-fashioned dinner show that includes foot-stompin' music, nostalgic comedy and an all-you-care-to-eat dinner."

On this trip we were staying at The Cabins at Fort Wilderness and Campground so Hoop-De-Doo , located at Pioneer Hall was literally a golf-cart ride away!  We arrived at the check-in podium about 20 minutes early and then posed for a photo which would later be available for purchase.

At 9:30 sharp, a ringing dinner bell and loud "hollering" welcomed us in to Pioneer Hall and we knew the fun was about to start!  We showed our "ticket" to the host and were seated promptly at a lovely table up front and slightly right of the stage.

There are 3 seating categories available for booking.  Since Hoop-De-Doo is known for being an audience-involved show, I wanted to be sure we were seated in Category 1 which is located on the floor, in close proximity to the action!  We had purchased the Deluxe Disney Dining Plan which did entitle us to Category 1 seating, but only at the 9:30 show, which was actually perfect since we had eaten a late lunch.

When we arrived at our table, it was already filled with huge bowls of colorful salad and sweet cornbread.  The salad was so fresh and the vinaigrette was AMAZING!  I am a southern girl and I have to say that this cornbread could possibly be the BEST I've ever tasted!

We were greeted by our "sassy" server with huge mason jars filled with fruity Sangria and good ol' Sweet Tea just as the show was beginning!  Piano ballads, stomping, kooky voices, and audience laughter filled the air in Pioneer Hall.

Suddenly, the servers came dancing from the kitchen bearing metal buckets of Crispy Fried Chicken.  Our server laughed aloud as she literally SLAMMED the buckets down on our table!

Other accompaniments to this delightfully down-home meal include Yummy ribs, smashed red potatoes, and tangy cowboy beans.  Our table filled up very quickly and looked so yummy that no one would wait for me to take a picture.

The food at Hoop-De-Doo actually surprised me.  There wasn't anything I didn't LOVE!  The whole vibe was hysterical!  I laughed SO hard throughout the entire show!  The songs are hilarious...the skits are corny...but good corny!  The cast pulls audience members into the show and onto the stage at several points during the show.

I was the target of one of these moments, I'm guessing since it was my birthday!  Boisterous Claire de Lune grabbed my chair-back and slid me over to the center of the floor where a bright spotlight was shining right down on me...She then preceded to play a "Guess her Age" game taking guesses from the other cast members and the audience... I was turning 29, but most of the guesses were between 16 and 22, which should have flattered me, but she made a big joke about it, and all I can say is that my cheeks were red!

I regret that I didn't take better pictures of this experience, but the looks on our faces should tell the tale effectively!  There was just so much going on and I didn't want to miss a thing!

Hoop-De-Doo Revue has been added to my list of FAVORITE Disney experiences and my family has decided to make this an annual tradition!  We left Pioneer Hall that nigh with our faces hurting from the constant laughter, full bellies, and shouts of "Hoop-De-Dooooooooo" in our heads! In fact, we joked around as "Hoop-de-Dooooooooo" came out of our mouths many times throughout the following week!

It Ain't Over 'til you've played the Hoop-De-Doo Wash Board

I already put this on Facebook, but our family has gone to Hoop Dee Doo for our last night every vacation since I was a teenager (now I'm a mom of three just a few years shy of 40). My daughter was chosen to ring the dinner bell last year, which made such a special place for all if us even better. Plus, my brother was chosen to be in the show one year. Funniest Disney moment for us ever and I saw a new side to brother I didn't know he had! So glad you loved it!

I was surprised by Hoop Dee Doo when we went, I had no idea what we were doing at that 'cabin place', as I called it. The family said "oh we come here every trip, just to sit on the porch and had a pop", well it started POURING so of course, we had to wait it out. When the time came, we went over to the building and got escorted to our seats! I was completely shocked! and I don't like surprises, so it took me a while to warm up to the idea. but once I did, it was one of the things that stuck out for me about the trip! Definitely suggest!!!
